The new Harry Potter movie just came out and my aunt, being the wonderful person that she is invited me (and a gaggle of friends) to come to a premier showing in a theater she rented. Needless to say at the prospect of not having to wait in line but still get the opportunity to see this fantastic movie was a phenomenal experience!
The movie itself was exactly what I hoped it to be in every way but one, and my only complaint in comparison is really quite small with the amazingness that is the final Harry Potter movie! For anyone reading this I am going to talk about the movie so if your an anti spoiler person then get off your butt go see the movie and then come back to finish reading my thoughts ;)
First to start with the good. Bellatrix LaStrange is Dead! And none other than the fabulous mrs weasley killed her, but not until she said one of my favorite quotes in the movie "not my daughter you B****!" this coming from a character as, well as "mom like" as Mrs Weasley for me just intensifies the brilliance of this for me. Secondly can I just say that Neville Longbottom just is Fabulous! I've always loved his character through every movie and every book and I feel Yates captured perfectly the seen where Voldimort carries Harry's thought to be lifeless body and Neville just spews awesomeness. He is such a champion! Oh also when he kills Nagani..... Ha that was epic! The last thing i'll mention here (if you saw it you know there's way more!) is the seen where Snape dies. They did this differently than the book but I almost like it better than the book! The depth that Alan Rickman portrays here (2 days later) still touches me! I always liked Snape through the whole series, even in book 6 when Snape kills Dumbledore I knew something else had to be going on. I stubbornly refused to believe he could be evil and do what he did. Snape was just to awesome! This however leads me to the one thing that did not live up to my expectations, the pensive. Don't get me wrong they did a beautiful job in this seen they just didn't build Snape and Lillys relationship enough. It's pretty funny now that I think about it but really the only thing I am mad/upset does not show up is the seen where Lilly saves Severus after one of James strings Snape up by his feet. It's silly I know, but I felt this was really important to show that Lilly remained such a loyal friend to Severus even though they clearly had different ideas, dreams, and passions. it also shows how good Lilly truly was.
Anyhow those are my thoughts! Epic movie! I can't wait for it to come out on blue ray! I want the full box set:D
